Description

Real Ales, fine wines, superb food and a warm welcome await from your hosts, Sarah and Lisa. The interior retains an old world charm, with log fires, stone walls and oak beams. The Red Lion is a Grade 2 listed stone-built coaching inn dating from 1748, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and well situated for Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick, Oxford and The Cotswolds. As you step into The Red Lion you will be charmed by the original character and the relaxed atmosphere. There is a pretty garden and en suite bedrooms. The Red Lion offers a creative seasonal menu, which changes regularly and has an AA Red Rosette. Much more than pub food, it has a creative brasserie style and serves locally sourced, fresh food. The Red Lion features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2010 and the Michelin 'Eating out in Pubs’ guide 2010.

FAQs

Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions

Would we able to bring our dog with us?

We are extremely dog friendly so the answer in short is yes. We do charge an additional £10.00 per night for dogs to stay and dogs are welcome in the rooms, bar and restaurant areas. Please do let us know if you are planning to bring them and we'll arrange for an alternative throw on the bed along with a dog bowl, towel and biscuit

hi do we have a key if we come back later than pub closing? thanks

Hello, yes there is a separate resident's access which you will be shown on check-in. Thank you for your enquiry Katherine

Would like to check In earlier please

You can check in from 2pm however, please remember that we close between 3pm and 5pm Monday - Friday. Kind regards Lisa

Do you allow dogs and if so are they allowed in the bar area

Yes we do, and yes they are. Hope this is helpful Jonathan

Hi do you have rooms that you don’t allow dogs in? We love dogs but having a dog free break and prefer a non doggy room

All of our rooms are dog friendly.

Hi does the single room have suitable access for " walking disabled?

It is up 2 flights of stairs and unfortunately we do not have any lifts, I would probably say not. Kind Regards Jonathan

Do the stairs to the single room have good handrails? I can manage stairs with handrails. Thank you!

Good evening, There is a handrail on one side but not the other. The second set of stairs are also quite steep I'm afraid to say. Please don'y hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.

Hi, please can I ask if your double with bath has a hand held shower attachment (for hair washing) or is it just taps?

Thank you for contacting us. The taps do have a shower attachment for washing hair. Kind regards Lisa

Can we check in earlier than 5pm please

Check in is available from 2pm however, Monday to Friday we close from 3pm to 5pm. In our experience people don't tend to read the important information so we put check in from 5pm. Hope this helps. Kind regards. Lisa

Yes, there are tea making facilities and tv's in our rooms.

Hi, is it possible to add a travel cot into the room for a 6 months old? If not, can 6 months old travel with us and just stay with us in the bed?

We are coming for the Grand Prix at Silverstone in July Is there public transport to Silverstone from where you are or if not a bus to Banbury? Thanks Alex

You can get a bus from Long Compton at 6.40am to Chipping Norton and from there you can get a bus to Banbury. On your return the last bus from Chipping Norton to Long Compton leaves Chipping Norton at 18.42. Hope this helps.

Hello! I see you are dog friendly which is great - we have two dogs - cocker spaniel and miniature labradoodle - is that ok? Thanks Anneka

Anneka Sorry for the delay we have some issues with our internet currently. In answer to the question, yes dogs are most welcome to stay and are allowed in the bar and dinning areas. There is an additional £10 for dogs to stay Jonathan

Do the bathrooms have walk-in showers as opposed to showers over a bath

Three of our seven rooms have walk-in showers and three have showers over the bath. One of our rooms has a bath only.

Hi, we have a travel cot and wanted to check our baby can stay with us in the room.

This should be fine although some of our rooms are better suited than others for a travel cot. Kind regards Lisa

Hi, Would you have secure parking for 2 motorcycles please, August next year ? Thanks

We have a large car park which does have security cameras but nowhere undercover or lockable I'm afraid to say.

Is it ok to bring my cat with me?

Thank you for getting in touch. I don't see any reason that you can't bring a cat however, I must mention that we are particularly dog friendly so would suggest the cat would need to stay in your room.

Could I ask where the single room is located. I'm concerned it might be next to the busy road

Our single room is located at the side of the building.

hi! do you have AC and reserved car parking? thank you!

We do have a large onsite car park but do not reserve parking spaces. Unfortunately the rooms do not have AC but there are desk top fans in all of the rooms.

Hi there were a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 9. Do you have any interconnecting rooms by any chance? Thanks Andrea

Unfortunately we do not have any interconnecting rooms

Hi, I'm enquiring whether a double bed room could be converted into twin beds or if you have twin rooms available, not shown? Please advise. Thank you

We have a Twin room (Cocoa) which has two single beds. We also have our Superior king room (Rosie) which can be done up as separate single beds and also our Family room with shower (Daisy) can be done as two separate single beds

Hi, do you have AC in the rooms ?

Unfortunatly our rooms do not have AV. All rooms do however have table top fans.

Do you have air con in the rooms and king size beds?

We have a king size bed in our King Size Room but unfortunately we do not have air con in any of our rooms. Each room is however provided with a fan.

Distance to Cotswold Distillery? Any local transport or taxis to Distillery?

The distillery is only 3.5 miles away however, local taxis have to come from town so it normally costs around £20 each way. Be sure to book in advance too! Shipston taxis and excelsior are usually quite reliable.

what does 'partially refundable' mean

It means that if you were to cancel the reservation, you would not be charged the total amount of the reservation in full, you would only pay for part of the reservation.
